HIGH SCHOOL SENIOR PORTRAITS AND HEAD SHOTS in PHOENIX, AZ
On Thursday Night, Robert Payne and a crew of uber-talented musicians converged on the chapel at North Phoenix Baptist Church in Phoenix to deliver the long awaited, highly anticipated live performance of Robert’s newest album, Sunlight. The house was filled with Robert’s friends and fans along with fellow musicians who have supported Robert through the year-long journey of writing and recording his first solo album.
Nicki Park and Joshua Isaac teamed up to deliver an amazing, heart-felt worship set that at times gave me chills. Nicki started her set with a short keyboard solo set before Joshua joined her on stage with his acoustic guitar. The two, together made for a perfect opening set of pure original, emotional songs of praise and worship.
Before Robert’s set, Dr. Moffat Zimba of Northrise University made a back stage appearance where Robert presented him a copy of the Sunlight CD signed by the band. And just before the show, Dr. Zimba delivered a prayer as only he could.
Robert’s performance was nothing short of stellar. From the moment he walked on stage with his entourage until the final “good night,” the expression on Robert’s face said it all. Opening the show with one of the album’s most popular songs – “Red Letter Day”, Robert and his crew came out full of energy and ready to share this amazing album with everyone. Some of the highest points in the show include a live duet with his beautiful and gifted wife, Monna. Appearances from Thomas Porter on a few songs added just the right flavor of country / bluegrass with his dobro and a banjo. Dusty Parsons came in with a solid backing vocal performance. Long time band-mates and friends, David Ellis, Danny Ortega, Rocky Searan, Eric Borgen, and Matt Sherman all rallied around Robert in this show to deliver a flawless performance and authentic live Sunlight experience.
Robert’s rendition of the hymn “I Have Decided to Follow Jesus” is one of my favorites and it will stop you in your tracks. His soulful, gospel version of this song is worthy of a Grand Ole Opry performance.
From beginning to end and all songs in between, this show was one to be remembered for a very long time. It was the perfect milestone to reach on a perfect journey of music, love, and worship that is not yet finished.
